Plan and rate data is kept current from the plan data every retailer is legally required to publish. We don't publish how or when we collect it.

Estimate formula

Electricity: Est. cost = supply × 365 + usage priced per TOU block, weighted by an approximate residential hourly load profile over the hours/days each block's windows cover (40/30/30 peak/shoulder/off-peak fallback when block windows aren't available) − exports × FiT (battery shifts up to 60% of capacity/day to self-use at the usage rate). Excludes demand charges. Excludes solar / battery / EV export (tick above).

Gas: Est. cost = supply × 365 + usage split across MJ tiers. Excludes demand charges. Excludes solar / battery / EV export (tick above).

Household model

Search a suburb without typing a usage figure and the default household (~5,400 kWh · ~0 MJ / yr) fills the estimate in for you: two people, one air conditioner, electric hot water and cooking, no heating. Every input on the compare page can be adjusted, and the estimate recalculates immediately.

Known gaps

Western Australia and the Northern Territory run regulated markets with no retail competition, so they are not covered. Some regional and embedded networks may also be missing plans we don't index yet.
